To say, I have a penchant for containers, might be putting it kindly.  I love containers. I even find myself having container envy when I see a really nice one. An old Bible box, sweetie tin, or cosmetic container might be useful for something?  And I know if I throw it away I’ll regret it.  Maybe it is my need for organization and as a crafter you can always find a use for something, can’t you?

My husbands ‘must have’ is shoe laces. He can never bring himself to throw away shoe laces. Do we have a phobia that we may someday be without these necessary items? Did we suffer some sort of childhood trauma or is it a comfort to us like a blankie?

Whatever the case, I watched a recent CSI about a hoarder and saw some minute resemblances! Uhrrr!  So, as my craft room was spilling out of it’s door into the hallway I decided it was time to reclaim some space.  I went through the closet and pulled out all the ‘really useful’ containers that I had squirald away for the last couple of years and I have donated them to my class to be made into beautiful creations.  Once again my creative space is the calm and peaceful place it should be.

Heart Warming What warms your soul? Check out the little one at the beginning.

Thank you for the input. I wasn't able to do much this time as I had already saved it. However, was able to save a .jpg file for web use. As you can see it is an improvement. Thank you so much!

First Digi Layout!

Over at Write.Click.Scrapbook they had a five day beginner digi week. Now I own a copy of Photoshop Elements 7 I was able to download there free templates and created this

It was hard work and I did pretty well up until the save to web option came up and I lost some of the journalling in translation. Ah well, there is room for improvement. It says, '’Saturday 8th January 2011 – last year before my teens!’. I have ordered a book to guide me through the next steps so watch this space.

My word for 2011. I am Still working on the ‘declutter’ to trim down my belongings but it was only a matter of time before I got serious about my weight.

I have to admit, sadly, age is a factor in my weight gain. However, I will not age gracefully but will go kicking and screaming all the way.  SO here’s to a trim me.

Most people recognize that If you are going to lose weight it has to be with a plan that works for you. 10 years ago Weight Watchers did the trick and I lost loads of weight after having James. However, tried that last summer and I was just throwing away money every week. I don’t even seem to have the will to restrict myself anymore. However, I have discovered that if I am good Monday through Friday by eating healthy foods, limiting treats and walking daily. I can have treats at the weekend and still lose weight. So this is my plan of attack. I have about 5 more pounds to lose and then I will be happy.  I have to look good in this dress for my sisters wedding in April. Here goes!

Dress will be in Latte.

I Love Saturdays

And I rarely give them up for anything. It’s my one day that keeps me sane. It is the one day I rarely make any commitments and, for the most part, I can apply myself fully without the confines of a demanding schedule.

Here’s my list of adventures for the day. It turned out to be a lovely sunny day so walking Lilly was bumped up on the list. We walked to Hobby Craft and ended up doing some shopping!

Come on Spring!

Recipe on my tumbler blog here

This recipe for Red Velvet Cupcakes was so good. The only note I would make is not to buy value cream cheese as it makes the icing runny!

How Do I Love Thee?

Let me count the ways! Inspired by the cards below I am counting down Valentines day for my two guys.

Free print herecountdown

I put two organza ribbons on the lounge door and told them to watch this space. Each day I will put a card on the door, with a candy, telling them one thing I love them for. I have made up all the cards being careful to say what I love about them not about things they do. (unconditional love!)

My DS said this morning, “I bet you can’t find 14 things you love about me!” I told him I most definitely could and cards were already written. He floated to school!

Valentine Creations

These mantle decorations look great when the candles are glowing.

Bought a gold frame and used Papermania stickers. Added John 15:13

Painted these letters in red and outlined in white. Added gold flake in places. Stuck them together to form Love and added John 3:16 with a white paint pen. Found cute stickers to add.

Me in February 2011

Inspired by Ali Edwards I thought this might be a good way to keep a journey of my life through the year. Here goes:-

Reading I am reading the book, “Help yourself” by Dave Pelzer. I read the Trilogy of books he wrote about his abusive childhood and so I was interested in what he had to say next.

Sitting I have finally found a morning space to start the day with prayer and Bible reading before I run out the door. Schedules changed in our house since DS now leaves at 7:30 and we no longer have time to enjoy breakfast and Bible reading together in the A.M. Now we have that time together in the evening when it is less rushed and I have time to start the day with the Lord by myself. Still trying to organize myself the night before so that nothing is in the way.

Listening I am attending a four day course about facilitating a ten week course for parents. It is a course given by an organization called Family Links and the course is based on nurturing our children and uses the book, “The Parenting Puzzle – How to Get the Best out of Family Life” by Candida Hunt. Wow! I know a lot of the stuff but it is great to be reminded and I am praying for the opportunity to facilitate the course.

Checking Out For years I have put off learning how to do Digital Scrapbooking but now I am spending so much time recording our photos on the web I have finally decided to jump in. SO, I am checking out Adobe Photo Shop Elements. Watch this space!

Experiencing I love crafting but for a long time it has taken a back bench. I have recently recognized how important it is to my whole family. The home touches tell them they are important and they gain a sense of belonging from it. I need the creative outlet and I enjoy investing myself into beautifying our home. SO, I decided that I would add creative touches for each seasonal holiday that comes along. (The big ones anyway) This will keep the creativity moving.
