Digital Project Life News and Free Tutorials

I’m not an affiliate of J. Sprague but genuinely excited about this course and the Digi goodies.

On January 7th the course, “Digital Project Life with Photoshop” will begin at Jessica Sprague. If you buy the course by December 31st there is a discount.

You can buy a digital core kit for a very reasonable price and you can also buy the templates which are very versatile.

For a blogger this makes sense as you could post the finished page and then get it printed or print it yourself.

Today on J. Sprague they are offering two free sample tutorials to have a go.

This is what I created with Template A and Clementine Core Kit.

A Year of Photos Plus Free Calendar Template and Tutorial.

A common theme at this time of year is to post the years best photos. I love browsing through peoples highlights of the year. Here's a 'Year in Photos" by Anne Voskamp.

And when I get tired of sitting around and doing nothing I’m going to go through my many thousands of photos to find the best for 2012.

I wanted to let you know that My Memories Suite has a free calendar template and a tutorial to go with it. Here's the quick link. Great if you want to print your own or have a little more flexibility with getting it professionally done.

I would love to see your line-up for 2012. Please feel free to leave a link in the comments.

We  got our snow day two days before Christmas. On the second day we had glorious sunshine to go with beautiful blue skies.

Well Done Son

I’m so proud of my, soon to be, 14 year old son.

  • Moved to a new continent.
  • Left all that was ‘normal’ behind.
  • left, but a few, of his belongings.
  • Moved into a new Church.
  • He is now living with extended family.
  • Started a new school.

These are some of the major stressors in life. At a tender age in life he has done this with amazing courage and really grown.

Well done son. We are proud of you.

Peppermint Candy Wreath

This was fun and very quick to do. I chose a very cheap straw wreath and left the plastic wrap on it. Fired up the glue gun and started sticking. You have to be careful not to overlap the twisty ends as the candy will not glue securely. Lift up the ends before sticking. This is small but still quite heavy so keep that in mind.

December Daily 9–A little Behind

Well I am a little behind on Dec Daily 2012. I expect most of you who do this for a hobby are probably in the same boat. What with mouths to feed, clothes to wash, and for some ‘a work a day world’,  sometimes a moment to create just gets crowded out.

When I am lagging and feel like I don’t have anymore to give it is then that I reflect, create and am restored.

But that’s why we do this right. To hold on to the spirit of the season. To remind ourselves why we labor. Why we do a little extra and make preparations to celebrate Christmas.  Its all about the heart NOT the work.

Today I got to do some baking. Nothing over the top as I don’t have the courage yet!

A day of Worship and an afternoon of feasting and fellowship. Today we enjoyed the Church Christmas party. The room was filled with joyful people enjoying one another's fellowship and great food.

This was one of five tables filled with food.

What about everyone else? How is it going?

So Grateful For This Moment–Digi LO

Kit by Mommyish ‘Hipster Holiday’ made on Photoshop.

Christmas trees have always had a special place in my heart and this year was extra special because we were able select one from a tree farm and have them cut it for us. Rows and rows of fat, thin, long, short, spiky, and fury trees waiting to be chosen. The smell was amazing and there was not a bad one amongst them. It had too be just the right size for our little country cabin-style apartment, just above my husbands head and not too wide.

Here it is in our little humble abode. I love it.  We are still waiting for my handmade ornaments to arrive from the UK but it still looks glorious in center place.

Evergreen is apparently a symbol of eternal life. I can relate to that. When I was a child I remember being in a pretty reflective mood and staring up at the tree. It kept my attention for a long time and I remember thinking there was something very special about this time of year and that I didn’t know the complete story yet. It felt like that tree was a promise of something that only the passage of time would reveal. Years later I understand the true meaning of Christmas. Christ the King, born in a humble stable to bring light, hope and eternal life to all who believe. Christ the Savior, hung on a tree to satisfy the punishment that should have been for me. Christ the Lord, now preparing a heavenly home and someday returning for me.

Yes, these gifts were waiting for me.  If that tree could speak it would have told me so. So you see, when I choose my tree and decorate her I think of the gift that she spoke of years ago. I breath in her perfume and reflect on the ‘Eternal Life’ that is reminded of therein.

December Daily - The List

It seems that kids don’t write a wish list anymore they leave a file with live links on your desk top! I think this might be expensive!!

December Daily - Thank You Mum

Part of being in Virginia means we have opened some of our personal belongings from over 20 years ago. This plaster ornament was a gift from my mother that was put away in a box and never used. How delightful it is to use it after all this time. It sits on my craft table all glistening and bright.

Thank you mum!

Things I Love At Christmas

Time to start decorating. These are some of my favorite things.

Poinsettias, blood red, velvet like and full of promise.

Candles, burning, crackly and smelly.

Home made wreaths that say welcome and rejoice.

I’m now living in a small rural area and I couldn’t even buy a wreath base! Found this wreath at a thrift store and rebuilt it.

Santa’s Little Helper, Digi LO

This is an oldie. 2004 is the last time we spent Christmas in the USA so this is a very special year for us. Santa’s little helper is now VERY BIG!

Date brushes are by Carina Gardener “365, A year of Rubons and 365, Color Kit”

For my album I bought an old children’s hardback book from the library. It has these wonderful little markings that I will work with. I decorate the front and carefuly remove pages so that the book won’t fall apart. I always make sure my pics are touching acid free papers all around.

December Daily 1

I am merrily building my foundation pages. Yes, I know, they should have been done already but I’m new at this. Besides I am very poor at decorating a page before I know what the photo is going to be. Doing it the other way around and letting my pages determine my photo is a tough one. So it is a learning curve and I am trying, honest!

I di a few basic matting and layering pages and I am using journaling cards to write my story each day.

I have decided to post my photos as I go along. I am saving them in JPG format to get them printed all at once. Then I’ll slot them right into my page and Voila, a Christmas Album. That’s the idea anyway.

Here’s the first set.

DH and Lilly and I and lots of wide open space, loved it!  This was one of the first days Hubby and I had alone together after leaving the city. No agenda just walking boots and lunch. Great for the soul. : )
