A Day In The Life – My Memories Suite 3

Just downloaded My Memories Suite 3 from and I am having a play. This is the first page of one of their album templates. It was as easy as slotting the picture in. I can’t say much about it yet as I haven’t had a good play. However, I am already impressed.

MyMemories_Suite_3_coverI purchased Photo Shop Elements at the end of last year with the goal of learning to use it this year. It is not a user friendly program and I have no time to learn. What few things I have managed to pick up in tutorials I have forgotten by time I get back to it. I will soldier on but if I want to actually get any pages done and enjoy the available art that is on the market these days this might be the way to go.

In the next few days I will be posting a discount code if anyone is interested. More soon.

Goodbye Mrs. York

Leaving Oldfield Primary School was one of the sacrifices we had to make when moving to the USA. I felt so blessed to have had the privilege of working there. Great kids and wonderful colleagues and friends. Here’s some of the wonderful thank-you’s from  the kids.

Just to Recap.

No doubt that my life will soon take off in another direction so I am taking advantage of savoring every moment.  Moving from the UK to the USA this year was unexpected but inevitable.

Just to recap:-

April we gave the news to everyone that our work in London was finished.

Then began the negotiating, planning and organizing. We had friends visit from the USA and a team come to be involved with Hubby’s business.

July I finished my job at school. Said goodbye to all those bright sparks and wonderful colleagues.

Then I started the plan of attack on our stuff.

I never want to hoard again!

September Hubby finished his job.  Sad to leave everyone behind.

Then we put the finishing touch on everything and said our final goodbyes.

October we flew. Whew! what a hectic year! So Far.

If I Have Learned One Thing From My Move It Has Been, “DON’’T HOARD!”

If I have learned one thing from my move it has been, “DON’’T HOARD!”

I am especially bad with magazines. I see so many interesting things that I would like to come back to and then don’t have time. So my response was always to keep the magazines. I never went back to them or I forgot where to find the info. The result was shelves full of old magazines.

So, this is my new habit. Read a magazine, use it for a coffee table book for a few weeks then cut out the good stuff and get rid of it. I am putting my little bits of info in a journal and leaving room for notes when I have looked  up web pages etc., ‘Molly Makes’ is especially full of good tidbits and I can come back to them later.

Not so Happy Today

It was one of those conversations that makes you grow up all of a sudden. You know, the one that brings you down to earth and makes you realize that you are not exempt. BAD NEWS!  Numbness,  as the reality of what you have just heard doesn’t want to sink in. You know that inevitably it will and you hope you don’t go under. God is a very present help in the time of need.

The Exit and Arrival

Last days, lots of friends, want to see them all.

Shipment gone, loads left, better book three extra suitcases.

Pack, visit, clean, will it ever be done!

Bed at 1am, up at 4, here we go.

Like refugees, what won’t fit, we leave. Evidence of our lives everywhere. So sorry and thankful towards those that come behind. Wish it could be different. God’s grace will be sufficient where my endeavors where not.

Walk Lilly at 4:30AM this is the last she will get for another 12 hours. I hope she’ll be ok.

Our ride arrives, shove a malt down the boy. Poor tired son. Still, he got an extra 3 hours that we missed.

We arrive at the cargo drop ten minutes early only to wait 60 minutes because the night shift are clocking off and the morning shift haven’t had their coffee yet. Annoyed!!

Ride patiently waits. God is so good.

Arrive at United and check through without a problem. Just in time for a Costa and a much needed nothingness. Tired, so tired.

Long winding security but somehow quite lite today. Arrive in time to board and the assistant makes a call. Lilly is safely on board. Happy now, I find my seat. 8 hours of movies and snoozes interrupted by food we finally arrive in Washington.

  • get luggage
  • rent car
  • find cargo and pick up Lilly
  • drive 4 hours to Roanoke

9:30PM USA time we meet Jim’s family and get driven the last 90 minutes.

A 20 hour day and I am so relieved to arrive.

Lilly is so suspicious that she lives in the luggage for several days.
